Seth I. Merrin

SETH I. MERRIN

Seth Merrin is founder and CEO of Liquidnet Holdings, the #1 electronic marketplace for block trading that debuted on April 10th, 2001. Liquidnet allows money management institutions to trade large blocks of equities directly and anonymously with significant price improvement and little to no market impact. The Company was recently named the fifth fastest growing private company in America according to Inc. Magazine's 23rd annual Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing privately held companies in America.

Liquidnet is the third technology firm that Seth has started. A pioneer in the trading technology industry, he led the way by delivering the industry's first order management system (OMS), the first compliance system, and the first electronic order routing system for asset managers. At first embraced only by cutting edge firms, these technologies are now standard on virtually every trading desk in the U.S.

Prior to Liquidnet, Seth co-founded VIE Systems, Inc., a financial services application integration software company, in 1997. VIE was sold to New Era of Networks (NEON) in 1999. In 1985, he founded his first company, Merrin Financial, which broke new ground with its institutional trading solutions. ADP acquired Merrin Financial in 1996. Prior to 1985, Seth was a Risk Arbitrage Trader for CIBC Oppenheimer.

Seth graduated from Tufts University in 1982 with a degree in Political Science. An active member of the New York Tufts Alliance and a steady supporter of Tufts Hillel, he has donated a number of works of art to the school and has spoken at campus forums on entrepreneurial leadership. He and his wife Anne have established the Merrin Family Scholarship Fund at Tufts, which assists disadvantaged students from the New York City area. Seth was elected to the Tufts University Board of Trustees in 2004.
