EDWARD M. SWAN, JR.
Ed Swan retired in 2008 after 6 years as President of Fiduciary Investment Solutions (FIS) Group of Philadelphia. FIS Group manages assets of approximately $2 billion and provides consulting services to large pension funds and endowments. Ed began his career in investment management in 1975 as a Senior Investment Analyst for Prudential Insurance Company. In 1985, he was a founding member of a start-up investment management firm, which he led to nearly $1 billion of assets before becoming Managing Director of Public Fund Marketing for Paine Webber's investment subsidiary, Mitchell Hutchins Institutional Investors. He subsequently joined MFS Institutional Advisors as Managing Director and in that role was instrumental in achieving national recognition for the firm that had previously been considered a regional institutional manager. He earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst in 1982.
A Trustee and chair of the Investment Committee of Dillard University, Ed also developed and taught courses in investment management and capital markets at Florida A&M University Graduate School of Business and Industry. He holds leadership positions in numerous organizations that support youth and the arts, including the Hyams Foundation, and the Boston Center for the Arts.
Ed earned a B.A. from Tufts University in 1963. He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and earned an M.B.A. from the Wharton School in 1974. He was elected to the Tufts University Board of Trustees in 2002.
