AMELIA TYNAN
VICE PRESIDENT FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Amelia "Mely" Tynan is Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining Tufts in 2005, Mely served as Vice Provost and CIO at the University of Rochester for six years, where she consolidated five separate IT units into a single reporting structure, created an ITS center, and developed the school's first strategic IT plan. Prior to the University of Rochester, she was Vice Provost for University Information Technology at the University of Arizona. She also held a tenured position in the Psychology Department of the University of the Philippines. Ms. Tynan is an invited founding member of the Microsoft Higher Education Advisory Group, created to provide feedback and advice on educational issues and uses of technology. She has held various leadership positions at EDUCAUSE, including Vice Chair, Secretary, Board member, and director of its Leadership Institute. She has served on numerous technology advisory councils, committees and task forces in Arizona and New York. Ms. Tynan holds a B.A. in psychology from Saint Paul College, Philippines, and an M.A. in Psychology from the University of the Philippines.
