Educating Our Custodians

Custodian education is a vital part of the recycling program. Since the custodians are responsible for collecting all the recycling from campus buildings, it is important that they are well-informed about the recycling effort.

Each year, Dawn Quirk, the recycling coordinator, meets with all the custodians on each Tufts campus to talk about recycling. In these annual education sessions they discuss why recycling is important, the role that the custodians play in the process, how and when to collect recycling, and what to do if various problems arise. Information is also provided regarding different recycling initiatives taking place at Tufts, and the role that the custodians play in each of them. All of the education material is in Spanish as well as in English.
