Soooooo, we've been dropping in ranking. That's not good. There are excuses. In 2005 only our flagship arts and science campus was in the game. That meant lots of paper! Starting in 2006, all three of our campuses enrolled in the competition together. Our other campuses have a lot of laboratories and even a hospital to contend with. In other words, a lot of waste that is not recyclable. In addition, many more schools compete each year and many commuter schools have joined (i.e. no dorm waste). All of this is fair game for those of you that like excuses. However, we CANNOT abide another defeat to the likes of Williams and B.C. That is unconscionable and it happened last year. So lets make that a target to shoot for. After all, our trash sorts demonstrate that at LEAST 26% of the waste in our bins could have been recycled. That's paper, bottles, cans, and recyclable plastics. Mostly paper. You know. The basics of recycling.

Tufts University, let's get down the basics. You're better than that!
