Endowed Scholarships

George I. Alden Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 to provide assistance to deserving veterinary students.

Anna Anderson Scholarship Fund
Established by the estate of Anna Anderson for a Massachusetts resident with an interest in small animals and/or wildlife.

Elizabeth Anne Baldwin Scholarship Fund
Established in 2002 by the estate of Elizabeth Anne Baldwin to provide scholarship assistance to women students concentrating in small animal medicine.

Helen Carey Bowman Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 by the estate of Helen Carey Bowman to benefit financially needy students.

Margaret Carlsson Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 by the estate of Margaret L. Carlsson to aid students in the D.V.M. degree program with preference given to residents of Connecticut.

Cats, Plain & Fancy Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 for veterinary students who have demonstrated an interest in and commitment to feline medicine.

Rosamond “Darby” A. Chambers Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 by Mary B. Chambers Mehri in memory of her mother, Rosamond “Darby” Chambers, to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students.

Marilyn Fels Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by Marilyn T. Fels to provide annual scholarship assistance to a qualified student for each of the four years of his/her veterinary education.  Preference is given for residents of Worcester County, Massachusetts, whose primary interest is feline medicine.

John F. and Georgia O’Neill Flagg Scholarship Fund for Wildlife Medicine
Established in 1994 by Dr. and Mrs. John F. Flagg to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students who have expressed an interest and career goal in wildlife medicine.

Cornelia Warren Gardiner Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1979 by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel D. Warren to provide scholarship assistance to enrolled veterinary students.

Anne Kimball Garland Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 to provide scholarship assistance to deserving veterinary students.

Charles D. Havens Scholarship Fund
Established in 2002 in memory of Charles Havens, A69, by friends and UnumProvident, Inc. colleagues to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students.

Bertha and Louise Hill Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 under the will of Louise Hill to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students.

Saralee F. Irwin Scholarship Fund
Established in 1992 under the will of longtime veterinary school employee and friend Saralee Irwin to provide scholarship assistance to students with an interest in feline or wildlife medicine.  The scholarship fund received a generous additional gift in 1997 from Ronald Foulis, Saralee Irwin’s brother, in honor of John Berry.

Harry and Anahid Karnik Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003 by Nadia Karnik in memory of her parents, Harry and Anahid Karnik, to provide scholarship assistance to deserving third- and fourth-year students with preference for Massachusetts residents.

Elizabeth H. Kaufman Scholarship Fund
Established in 1979 by Elizabeth Horn Kaufman to provide scholarship assistance to deserving veterinary students, with preference for students from Maine.

Murray Koblenzer Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by the estate of Murray Koblenzer to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students.

Edward and Jacqueline Lee Scholarship Fund
Established in 2005 under the will of Edward P. Lee to provide scholarships to one or more D.V.M. degree students with a preference for residents of Connecticut, particularly West Haven or New Haven, Connecticut.

Norman J. MacLeod Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2004 by Norman J. MacLeod to provide scholarships to one or more third- or fourth-year students. Recipients must qualify for financial aid and have strong academic records.

Cecile A. Mallett Scholarship Fund
Established in 1987 by the estate of Cecile A Mallett to provide scholarships to veterinary students.

Pauline M. Nickerson Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by Pauline M. Nickerson to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students.

Richard J. Phelps Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by Richard J. Phelps to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students.

Lola M. Preston Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 under the will of Lola Preston to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students, with preference given to residents of New Hampshire.

Dr. John J. Sacco Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1988 by Mrs. Edith L. Sacco in memory of her husband, Dr. John J. Sacco, to provide scholarship assistance to needy third or fourth-year veterinary students, with preference given to students intending to pursue a career in small animal medicine.

Salsbury Endowment Fund for Veterinary Medicine Scholarships
Established in 1985 by the Dr. J. Salsbury Foundation to provide scholarships for veterinary students in their final year of study.

Dr. Joseph R. Spies Wildlife Scholarship Fund
Established in 1992 by noted author and photographer Joseph Spies to assist deserving veterinary students interested in a career in wildlife medicine.

Veterinary Scholarship Trust of New England Loan and Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by the Veterinary Scholarship Trust of New England (formerly the MVMA Scholarship Loan Fund of New England), to provide scholarships and loans to deserving veterinary students from New England.

Edythe Eastman Weymouth Scholarship Fund
Established in 1993 by the estate of Edythe Eastman Weymouth to provide scholarship assistance to veterinary students.

Charles E. and Barbara H. Wilcox Scholarship
Established in 1998 by Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox to provide scholarship assistance to deserving veterinary students.

Shirley Shattuck Windsor Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by the Shirley Shattuck Windsor Charitable Trust to provide scholarship assistance to deserving veterinary students with priority given to students who were Massachusetts residents before enrolling and are considered likely to pursue a career in small animal medicine.
