Katie Powers Student Profile
Choosing the Cummings School
I always had big dreams of coming to Tufts because I always knew I wanted to be a vet. I'd known of Tufts reputation since I was in elementary school, so it had been my top choice from day one.
A Meaningful Classroom Experience
The second year students who served as anatomy tutors were so extremely helpful our first semester as we braved the course. They set up a mock practical exam for us, which must have taken them hours, just so we'd know what our first exam would feel like and so that we could gauge how our studying had been going to that point.
Campus Life
I spend most of my time in only two buildings during class hours, but the new student center is a great place to go to get away from the classroom and hang out with classmates or go to the gym and sweat out the stress.
Education
- Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Williams College, Williamstown, MA (2008)
Career Goals
I would love to own my own small animal private practice some day. I want to be there for the pets of the friends and family who have supported me on my way to becoming a vet, and of course meet lots of new pets and owners and be there for them, too.
Student Organizations
I am in Alpha Psi and SCAVMA, the V'12 Social Chair, and the Pet Loss Hotline co-manager.
Additional Skills and Interests
I played softball competitively up through college and I miss it terribly!
