New Program Developed by Tufts Student Veterinary Business Management Association Chapter to Help Your Practice
Dear Tufts Veterinary Alumni,
The National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues (NCVEI), along with the AVMA, AAHA, and AAVMC (American Association of Vet Med Colleges), has created pricing and benchmarking tools for veterinary practices. The NCVEI tools help you to identify the strengths and weakness of your practice. You can use these tools to compare your practice with others across Massachusetts and the US in regions with similar demographics. There are tools available for veterinarians involved in small animal, food animal, equine, and mixed animal practice.
The Tufts student chapter of the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) has developed a program in which veterinary students are trained to teach veterinarians how to use and implement the NCVEI benchmarking tools. Our students will contact you to schedule visits to help you appreciate the value of the NCVEI tools. The VBMA anticipates involving over 100 practices in the Massachusetts area this coming academic year.
Many veterinarians are not practicing their trade with the level of business skills necessary to achieve the highest standards of care. By developing these skills, veterinarians will advance the profession. The Tufts University Veterinary Alumni Association (TUVAA), having met with the Tufts VBMA students coordinating this project, feels that working with these students to learn how to use the NCVEI tools can help bring your practice to a higher level. In addition, you will form a valuable relationship with veterinary students committed to the highest standards of practice. The TUVAA, along with the MVMA, AAHA, and the AVMA, endorses this project and encourages you to participate in this joint VBMA-NCVEI venture.
If you have interest in participating in this program, please contact vbmancvei@gmail.com. There is a suggested donation of $200 for MVMA, AAHA and TUVAA members; $250 for all others. This donation helps the VBMA student group provide the best possible programming on business, financial, and interpersonal skills.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bill Rosenblad, President of the Tufts University Veterinary Alumni Association
This project is financially sponsored by AAHA, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelhim, Merial, Nestle-Purina, the Simmons Educational Fund, and VCA.
