Frequently Asked Questions about AVM Admission and Financial Aid Decisions
If you do not see the answer to your own question(s) about the AVM program, please contact the program.
If I am not accepted to AVM, is it possible to reapply the following year?
Yes, we encourage you to reapply! You will need to complete a new application and provide us with an updated activities list and updated official transcripts.
Is there a waiting list?
Yes. When a session becomes full, applicants may be placed on the waiting list. Our Middle School sessions are first-come, first-served; if a spot becomes available, the next student in line will be contacted. The high school, college, and adult waiting lists are ranked; meaning, if a spot becomes available, all waiting list applications for that session are reviewed again and the strongest applicant is selected to fill that spot.
What are my chances of being admitted from the waiting list?
Spaces do become available every year, and we encourage applicants to remain on the waiting list.
When will I hear from the AVM program with regards to my admission?
Middle school students are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis after a completed registration form and deposit have been received. You can expect to hear about the status of your enrollment within a few weeks of applying. For high school, college, and adult applicants we begin making admission decisions in late January and then continue on a rolling basis until all spaces are filled. Please note, the high school sessions are typically full by mid-February. Please do not hesitate tocontact the program for updates.
How do you make Financial Aid decisions?
All Financial Aid decisions are need-based only, for families considered financially disadvantaged. The financial aid application postmark deadline is Friday, March 18, 2011. Financial aid decisions are made separately from admission decisions. We encourage applicants to research possible local sources of funding and to talk about funding options with guidance counselors.
