Therese O'Toole – DVM, DACVIM
A board-certified specialist in small animal internal medicine, Dr. O'Toole is one of the core faculty of the Foster Hospital for Small Animals' busy Emergency and Critical Care service. She sees cases that require emergent care for trauma, infections, or complications of a wide assortment of conditions, including metabolic, cardiac and neurological diseases—some of the hospital's most complicated cases.
A native of Manhattan, Dr. O'Toole wanted to be a veterinarian as long as she can remember, which led her to study veterinary medicine here at Tufts, where she graduated in 1995. She teaches third-year veterinary students about shock, its effects and treatments in the Small Animal Medicine and Surgery course, and mentors fourth-year students, interns, and residents in their fourth-year clinical rotations through the emergency and intensive care units.
The Emergency and Critical Care Service is one of the best veterinary resources worldwide,
Dr. O'Toole says. The students are excellent, as is the support staff.
