The IVM Certificate Program, trains students who have chosen a career in International Veterinary Medicine. This is a comprehensive, mentor centered program for Tufts veterinary students that takes approximately four years to complete. Requirements include cross-cultural seminars, elective courses in IVM, attending international conferences and training opportunities, an international project, a thesis or a peer-reviewed publication, and a comprehensive oral final exam administered by three faculty members. Students in the certificate program can choose one of five areas of specialization: Conservation Medicine, Veterinary Public Health, Livestock Production and Development, Veterinary Diseases of International Importance, or Livestock in Humanitarian Assistance. The certificate program has 14 graduates and six current students.
