Extensor Carpi Radialis Reflex

Anatomy and Physiology
The extensor carpi radialis muscle is one of the extensors of the carpus. It is innervated by the radial nerve. The origin of this reflex is C7-T1 in the spinal cord.
Assessment
The limb is supported under the elbow, maintaining a flexed elbow and carpus. The muscle belly is struck distal to the elbow. The expected response is a slight extension of the carpus.
