Fall 2007 Pet Photo Contest Winners
Alpha Psi is a national professional co-ed fraternity for veterinary students. At the Omicron chapter, we pride ourselves on our community involvement and fun, social events. For every fund raising event we hold, we put a portion of it towards placing the "found by" animals who come to the hospital and have no owners. The Tufts Student Chapter of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) was recently reestablished to help provide students with resources and opportunities to learn about current trends in companion animal medicine. This includes access to information on the latest developments in medical and surgical techniques, practice management, and networking opportunities through newsletters, the AAHA website, and conferences and continuing education seminars. more...
The Tufts student chapter of AAEP strives to increase the educational opportunities in equine medicine. Members receive the benefits of talks/panel discussions about important medial and professional issues, financial support to attend conferences, networking with professionals, opportunity to attend Opportunities in Equine Medicine in Kentucky, hands on experience with vaccinating/drawing blood/floating teeth, a farrier clinic on campus, wet labs, and scholarship opportunities. more...
The AAFP is a national organization for veterinarians and students interested in feline medicine as an important subset of small animal medicine. Student membership includes access to the AAFP member's only section of the website as well as the organization's monthly newsletter (e-mews). more...
Although ASLAP is a relatively new club at Tufts, it is one of the most active clubs on campus. Event have included trips to visit lab animal facilities around New England, wet labs that introduce students to surgical and clinical techniques on treatment, assessment, and handling of common laboratory animal species. more...
The disaster medicine club was formed in response to growing realization of the importance of including animals in disaster plans. With several recent large-scale natural disasters involving large numbers of domestic animals, the critical role of veterinarians in disaster relief has become immediately apparent. We aim to introduce students and faculty to the role they might play in disaster response as well as educate the community in ways to prepare for and take care of their families and pets in the event of a disaster. more...
Gap Junction is a community outreach education program that allows veterinary students to teach biology-based labs to youth in the Boston and Worcester areas. Every week Gap Junction volunteers help to bring the worlds of science and veterinary medicine into the minds of middle school students. more...
The TCSVM student chapter of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association was formed in 2003 as an affiliate of the national chapter. In accordance with the chapter constitution, the objectives of the organization include promoting holistic medicine, providing educational opportunities in complementary medical therapies, and encouraging camaraderie among veterinary students interested in holistic veterinary medicine. more...
The International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management is a unique organization dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and advancing pain management in animals. more...
The Tufts chapter of the IVSA helps members set up veterinary exchanges worldwide and awards scholarships for these exchanges. The Tufts chapter also supports veterinary education in disadvantaged countries by contributing annually to the IVSA Development Fund and by promoting the IVSA Hosting Program to local veterinarians interested in hosting international students. more...

The Pet Loss Support Hotline at Tufts University was established in 1996 to help support grieving pet owners. It is staffed by volunteers, most of them veterinary students, who are trained in grief response with a special emphasis on pet loss. more...
The Student Chapter of the Society for Theriogenology works with the parent organization to create interest in, and enhance the knowledge of theriogenology among veterinary students, increase awareness of the importance of theriogenology as a veterinary discipline, promote camaraderie among veterinary students who are interested in animal reproduction, and to improve theriogenology skills among students. more...
SAVE seeks to promote discussion of veterinary ethics while emphasizing the veterinarian's role as an advocate for the interests of animals. In doing so, SAVE hopes to raise awareness of these issues among the entire veterinary community and to address concerns regarding the use of animals in the veterinary curriculum. more...
The mission of the Tufts Student Chapter of ASV is to advance the practice of shelter medicine and to further veterinary education and research as it relates to animals' health in shelters. The Student Livestock Organization (SLO) at Tufts strives to generate enthusiasm among students about large animal medicine. Student interest revolves around cattle (beef and dairy), small ruminants (sheep/goat), camelids (llamas/alpacas), and swine. The club is frequently involved in routine practices on the Tufts farm as well as makes field trips to local farms to get hands-on experience. more...
SVECCS works to promote the education and involvement of veterinary students in all aspects of emergency and critical care medicine.
