Tufts University’s Water: Systems, Science and Society (WSSS) program is hosting the fourth annual student-organized symposium. The theme of this year’s symposium addresses the future of water in food production. Last year’s symposium was a great success and attendance has increased each year that the event has been held. We are excited to provide you with the opportunity to sponsor this year’s WSSS Symposium.
Agriculture accounts for between 70-80% of water use worldwide. A growing world population is estimated to require a doubling of global food production by 2050. Meanwhile, debilitating droughts and devastating floods threaten an already tenuous global food security. This year, students, academics, and professionals from the public, private, and non-governmental sectors will explore the nexus of water and agriculture. Symposium topics will include climate change and vulnerability, water availability, water rights and the economics of water allocation, water pollution, public health, natural resource management and collaboration.
The WSSS symposium is organized by a student steering committee supported by faculty advisors and a professional staff from Tufts University.
