The
grantee will conduct research, develop collaborations, and offer occasional
guest lectures at the undergraduate or graduate level. Specializations
include globalization and cultural studies, with a focus on globalization and
the media, the politics of contemporary global culture, and globalization and
gender. Themes might include: war and militarization; globalization
and the politics of place; globalizing cultural resistance; globalization and
the politics of fundamentalism; and globalizing racial justice. The
Research Chair provides a fixed sum of $25,000 for four to nine months.

Trust
Funds support projects and individuals working to (1) promote issues of racial justice with policy shapers and opinion formers, (2) monitor and challenge racism and racial injustice whether relating to colour or culture, (3) explore ways to eliminate racial violence and harassment. Visiting Fellowships in Program on
Religion, Conflict and Peacebuilding (PRCP)
With support from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Kroc Institute’s PRCP explores the complex role of religion in contemporary conflicts, ranging from the legitimation or sacralization of violence, to participation in conflict mediation and reconciliation, to the advocacy and practice of nonviolent resistance as a religious imperative. The PRCP encourages applications for 2006-07 that aim to foster greater sophistication in the public knowledge of and discourse about religion’s roles in conflict. Fellowships are ordinarily for one year, with stipends beginning at $35,000. Application deadline is November 15, 2006. More information can be found here

Postdoctoral and Predoctoral
Research Fellowships in Science and International Affairs
BCSIA offers ten-month
stipends of $34,000 to postdoctoral research fellows and $20,000 to predoctoral
research fellows. The BCSIA is the hub of the Kennedy School’s research,
teaching, and training in international security affairs, environmental and
natural resource issues, and science and technology policy. Fellowship
research interests include internal and ethnic conflict, conflict resolution in
divided states, democracy and democratization as a factor in international
politics, domestic preparedness for terrorism, and social determinants of

Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships
German Historical Institute (GHI)
The German Historical Institute awards short-term fellowship to German and American doctoral students as well as postdoctoral scholars in the fields of German history, the history of German-American relations, and the role of Germany and the USA in international relations. The fellowships are also available to German doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars in the field of American history. The research projects must draw upon source material located in the United States. The GHI will not provide funding for preliminary research. Deadlines are May 20, 2006 and October 15, 2006. Visiting Fellowships
Princeton University’s Center for the Study of Democratic Politics is seeking up to five visitors for the 2006-2007 academic year. The Center supports empirical research on democratic political processes and institutions, primarily but not exclusively in the contemporary American setting, with a particular focus on the relationship between democratic theory and democratic practice. Each visitor will pursue research and contribute to the intellectual life of the Center, the Department of Politics, and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
