I write this word of welcome with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the group has
reached a new high by registering its 600th member. On the other hand, and for the
second time (after John D. Nagle), one of our members has passed away. Ehud Sprinzak
was one of the leading scholars of terrorism, and of the extreme right in Israel, and will
be sorely missed by the discipline. His The Ascendance of Israel's Radical Right
(Oxford
UP, 1991) will remain the standard work on the topic for years to come. Ami Pedahzur
has written a fitting obituary for e-Extreme, which in this issue will replace the usual
member profiles.
While we obviously would like to keep our membership as high as possible, there are
various members whose email addresses are no longer current. If you are one of these
