I am very pleased to present to you the new issue of e-Extreme. It is the fourth issue that I have had the privilege to edit, and I hope that you will find the results to your liking. A few weeks ago, while discussing the future of the newsletter, Cas and I had both agreed that e-Extreme has the potential of developing in many new directions. However, we believe that in order for this to happen, the editorial team should periodically change, preferably, every couple years. Consequentially, new people with ideas will keep the newsletter vibrant and vivid.

We know that most of you are swamped with teaching obligations, administrative duties, and, if you are lucky, even research. However, we believe that if you should get involved in the editing of this newsletter, you will find it both fascinating and worthwhile. Not only would you have a chance to closely follow new developments in the field, but you may even make an impact on a relatively large academic sub-community. Hence, we would like to invite you to join us and the new editorial team that will, hopefully, take charge of the newsletter by the summer of 2005.

If you are interested, please send an email to Ami and Jennifer by July 1, 2004 at the latest. If you have a preference for any specific task, e.g. reviews editor, please indicate this in your email. In selecting the new editorial team we will try to ensure a good balance in research topics, geographical location, gender, etc. of the various editors. Please do not feel inhibited to nominate yourself. We really need your help and initiative to keep the newsletter running in the (near) future. It would be a shame if e-Extreme, which has received such positive feedback from so many of you, would have to be terminated.

As always, I would like to thank Cas , Jennifer and Yael for the wonderful job they are doing. I wish all of you a fantastic summer vacation. Ami
