About Sarah
Following my graduation from Boston University with a degree in Psychology and Women's Studies, I worked first as a residential caseworker at a home for troubled adolescent girls and then as a research coordinator in the Center for Psychopharmacologic Research and Treatment at UMass Medical School. I completed my doctoral degree under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Shin at Tufts University. My dissertation examined how healthy individuals use shifts in attention to regulate experimentally induced affect, and how this may predict future functioning.
I have been a postdoctoral fellow in EBBL since September 2007.
My research interests focus on the interaction of psychological and biological processes in healthy and disrupted emotion regulation. Particular research interests include the role of attention in emotion regulation, cognitive biases in mood and anxiety disorders, and the relationships among emotion regulation, well-being, and positive moods states.
I have had the pleasure of teaching courses in introductory psychology, statistics, research methods, media portrayals of mental illness, and a "multiple perspective" approach to understanding psychopathology.
