Math Camp Syllabus 2001
Dates: Aug. 23 & 24 (Thursday, Friday), 10:00-12:00 in the morning and 1:30-3:30 in the afternoon, both days at Olin 11; and Aug. 27, 28 & 29 (Monday - 10:00-12:00 in the morning and 1:30-3:30 in the afternoon, Tuesday - 10:00-12:00 in the morning and Wednesday - 10:00-12:00 in the morning and 1:30-3:30 in the afternoon), the three days meet at Anderson 306. Note: There will be a complimentary light lunch on Thursday, August 23 at Braker Hall 113, 12:00-1:30PM for all new graduate students. This lunch is hosted by the Department's Chief Administrative Secretary and Assistant: Lidia Bonaventura and Jeanne Beck. The secretaries will make some remarks and faculty will attend as well. Please, make sure you attend this lunch.

Economists.

Norton and Co., New York, NY. This is one of the clearest and most
concise modern texts for entering graduate students in the subject. It is
rigorous in its mathematics and presents a variety of examples and
applications that will be useful throughout your graduate school.
The Math Proficiency Exam will be held in the first day of classes, Tuesday, September 4, 2001; 6:00-7:30PM at Braker 118. Note: The Math Proficiency Exam is required for all students entering the Masters Program in Economics at Tufts.
Those incoming graduate students who have been awarded Teaching Assistanships (TAs), or are interested in TAs, are required to attend:
(i) The TA Orientation sponsored by the CENTA and Economics Department on August 31;
(ii) The Economics Department sponsored TA Sessions (Wednesday, September 5, 2001, 4:00-6:00PM, Braker 226).
Please note the following events planned for graduate students in August 2001:
August 27-31, Mon-Fri., New Student Registration (the system closes at noon on Friday);
August 28, Tues., New Student Orientation;
August 30, Thurs., International Center Orientation;
August 31, Fri., General TA Orientation during the day;
August 31, Fri., Economics Department Head TA at 4:00PM, informal meeting open for all new graduate students.

The Math Camp for incoming graduate students will take place from Thursday, August 24 to Wednesday, August 30. The program will have 4(four) hours of classes per day (total of 20 hours) with 2-hour meetings in the morning and 2-hour meetings in the afternoon. Note that the Math Camp 2000 will be different from the Math Camp 99 which has information below.
