Title: Model reduction approaches for geophysical oil exploration Speaker: Mikhail Zaslavsky Affiliation: Schlumberger Abstract: We develop accurate and fast Reduced Order Models (ROM) of large scale 3D electromagnetic (EM) problems for the following purposes: a. multi-frequency forward problems b. single frequency inverse problems The constructed ROMs represent single or multivariate rational interpolations of the full scale models using global information in an optimal way. Depending on the objective our ROM, this allows to model effectively EM fields for multiple frequencies, time and conductivity distributions. We demonstrate the efficiency of the developed approach on examples of forward and inverse problems of deep EM (cross-well and controlled-source EM).
