Assessing Pro-Poor Interventions in Ghana
Together with microfinance intstitutions (MFIs) we are designing and testing financial products to help increase the depth of outreach and sustainability of microfinance organizations. We are using insights from research in psychology, economics and finance to create scalable and profitable financial products. We then evaluate the effectiveness of these products using randomized control trials. Finally, we work with the MFIs to help implement the products that work. The key goal in the scaling and replication phase is to create financial products that can be delivered through MFIs without compromising their sustainability, but that reach the population underserved by typical microfinance lending approaches.
