Ph.D., University of Michigan, 1981).

Professor Eichenberg has held grants and fellowships from the Mellon Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, and the Social Science Research Council.

His books include Defence and Public Opinion (co-author, Routledge and Kegan Paul, 1983) and Public Opinion and National Security in Western Europe (Cornell, 1989). Eichenberg's articles have appeared in Policy Sciences, American Political Science Review, International Security, International Organization, World Politics, and many research anthologies.

His recent research focuses on two things: the support of European citizens for the process of integration, and public opinion and defense policy in Europe and the United States.  A review essay on these subjects will appear in Mershon Internat ional Studies Review (May, 1998),  and in "Citizen Support for Policy Integration", in Wayne Sandholz and Alec Stone Sweet, eds, Supranational Governance: The Institutionalization of the European Union (Oxford University P ress, 1998).
