New Tufts Epsilon Materials Institute Will Advance Clean Energy Solutions
April 29, 2025
Dear members of the Tufts University community,
We are excited to announce the launch of the Tufts Epsilon Materials Institute at the School of Engineering. Sponsored by Epsilon Group, the new institute will advance materials science innovation for sustainability and elevate materials solutions in clean energy and the circular economy. Key areas of focus will include electric vehicle (EV) batteries, critical materials recovery, nature-derived materials, and nature-inspired sustainable materials.
Leveraging Epsilon’s global leadership and industry know-how and the School of Engineering’s ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship, the program will generate innovative materials-based solutions for the world’s clean energy transition. At the forefront of the institute will be a world-class faculty cohort who will research clean energy through a materials lens and share their knowledge with the next generation of leaders.
The Tufts Epsilon Materials Institute reflects the vision of Vikram Handa, E01, Managing Director at Epsilon Group. This initiative will transform materials science learning and research at Tufts, raise the visibility of groundbreaking student and faculty research, and empower the university to develop clean energy and sustainability solutions for the betterment of society, now and in the future.
We are deeply grateful for the collaboration between Epsilon Group and Tufts University to further the clean energy transition through the Tufts Epsilon Materials Institute.
